LASEMA deployed its Tiger team following reports of a tanker fire near Otedola Bridge.
LAGOS STATE: Otedola Bridge tanker fire prompted an emergency response along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday afternoon after a tanker burst into flames, leading the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to deploy its response team to the scene.
LASEMA spokesperson Olawale Afolabi confirmed the incident in a brief message to journalists, saying the agency received information about the fire at approximately 4:24 p.m.
According to Afolabi, the agency immediately mobilised its Tiger response team to the location.
“Tiger team en route to Otedola. Tanker on fire,” he said.
The incident occurred around Otedola Bridge, a busy section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that carries significant traffic between Lagos and neighbouring areas.
Otedola Bridge Tanker Fire Raises Safety Concerns

The Otedola Bridge area has previously been associated with tanker-related accidents and fire emergencies, raising concerns about the risks posed by fuel-laden vehicles on heavily trafficked roads.
The movement of tankers and other heavy-duty vehicles along major expressways presents safety challenges, particularly when accidents occur in areas with dense traffic.
However, details about Monday’s incident remained limited at the time of this report.
There was no immediate official information on whether the tanker was carrying petrol or another substance, what caused the fire, or whether anyone was injured or killed.
It was also unclear whether the incident had caused a traffic disruption along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
LASEMA Responds to Tanker Fire
LASEMA’s deployment of its Tiger team was aimed at responding to the emergency at the scene.
Further details about the agency’s operations, the condition of the tanker and the extent of any damage were not immediately available.
Motorists travelling through the Otedola Bridge area should exercise caution and follow instructions from emergency responders and traffic officials.
Avid Reporters will provide updates as more verified information about the tanker fire becomes available.
